Jabby originally is from Park Forest IL. Jabby was born on 10/10/2012 to a "backyard" breeder; a breeder that does not have the proper knowledge of breeding dogs and raising puppies to be sold. Jabby contracted a parasite from the mother at birth and four months later, her back legs weakened and atrophied. Jabby had contracted Neosporosis from the infection invading her central nervous system resulting in neurological abnormalities.
A wonderful family heard about Jabby and wanted to give her a loving home for as long as possible. Eventually both parents, who technically owned the dog, passed away over the course of a year. The children tried to take care of Jabby to honor the parents, but it just became too difficult. Jabby requires around the clock care. She has to be carried outside to potty or placed on potty pads, sponge baths after each potty time. She has numerous pressure sores that become infected and sore, a bladder infection that never completely clears up, medication, special prescription food and special wheels and harness to get around.
Right now Jabby is a fairly happy dog. She drags her legs around the yard to play with the other boxers in the home. She does not realize that she is different.
We accepted Jabby into our rescue organization on June 26, 2020. It is our plan to keep Jabby comfortable for as long as it is not affecting her quality of life. She has developed a resistance to most antibiotics due to being on various types her whole life. Jabby is down to one now that can hold the bladder infection in low even bacterial numbers to where she is still comfortable. Her time is limited ... once she develops a resistance to the current antibiotic there is nothing else we can do to control the discomfort/pain.
She has "club" feet the pink area is pads that have developed on the top of her back paws.
